J. David Arnold, Most private schools are started by educators who hire a manager to handle the business matters. As a business major, I did the opposite. I started a private school and then hired the educators. They chair each department, develop curriculum, establish criteria for Honors and Advanced Placement courses, and select textbooks. They run their own departments with help and guidance from our Principal. It's been 40 years since ASA was established, and I could not be more proud of our faculty and staff, many of whom have been here for more than 30 years. In fact, I would be delighted to have any member of the ASA faculty teach my child or my grandchild.
